In Missouri you can buy your license over the counter. You do have to have your Driver's License and your Hunter Education Card. (if you were born on or after January 1st, 1967) You can either purchase your license online ahead of time or you may purchase it once you arrive in Missouri. If you have any questions on which license to purchase we will advise you once your hunt dates are set.
In Iowa you are granted a license by a "lottery draw". You have to apply for your tags usually starting at the beginning of May through the end of May. You will have to know what season you are applying for and what zone you want to hunt. A Hunter Education Card is necessary if you were born on or after January 1st, 1967. The draw results are usually posted in the month of July. If you do NOT draw you will receive a preference point and you will be refunded the cost of the license minus a processing fee.
Missouri hunting licenses are now $225.00.
Iowa hunting licenses are around $500 depending on season.

We offer our hunter's something to keep them involved as we are preparing for the season. Taby sends out an email "newsletter" to the hunter's that have requested to be placed on the mailing list. The newsletter includes game cam pictures, food plot pictures, updates on farms, deer, weather, what we are seeing, scouting progress, tree stand placement progress, and anything else she thinks the hunter's will enjoy. We have found this keeps the hunter very involved and also helps when the time comes for the hunt and they are aware of what deer to be looking for on the certain farms.
NO WAY! You have to be so careful when choosing the outfitter you hunt with. There are so many "fly by night" outfitters and it is sometimes hard to pick them out. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!! We here at Sand Rock are full time Outfitters. We do this for a living. We love what we do and we care about our hunters, our deer, and our land. I would suggest you make sure you check outfitter reviews and get references (ask for hunter's that just hunted there the last season and ask for one that killed and one that did not). Beware of an outfitter that only shows off the BIG bucks. Every hunter is drawn to a place where the big bucks are, but in reality there are smaller bucks where there are big bucks. We do not believe in only putting every 150"-170" we have shot on our website. Yes, this would sell us hunts, but it would also give you false expectations. In Missouri we kill deer in the 150+ range every year but we also kill deer in the 130's. In Iowa we have deer in the 130"-200" range, but you will see more 130's than 200's! (Our minimum is 140" in Iowa) We want you to know what to expect, the TRUTH, not what TV shows you or give you false expectations with pictures. BE CAREFUL! You need to remember in most cases you do get what you pay for!
