Taby's Updates

I thought it would be nice for me to have a page where I can post all of my updates. For those of you who do not hunt with us yet, I keep our hunters (if they request) up to date and informed of what we here at Sand Rock Outfitters are doing to get ready for the upcoming season. I send out e-mails that have game cam pics, food plot pics, and I just basically say this is what we are doing and this is what we are seeing. We have found that familiarizing our hunter's with the deer and the land helps tremendously when they finally get here to hunt. They get to know shooter's from non-shooter's by recognizing them from the game cam pics and so on. It helps and it keeps the hunter's excited!

May 27, 2009- Turkey season ended for us here on May 10th! WOW! What a season we had! We proved once again that Northern Missouri is The Turkey Capital of the World! We ended up killing 44 birds, missing 4 and wounding 2. That brings our success rate to 90%+ WOW! I have posted the pics so go ahead and check them out! I will be posting more pics once I receive them!! HINT HINT to those of you who promised me pictures! Now it is on to food plots for us! We have chosen some new sites this year and we will be starting them as soon as the weather cooperates. We have been out glassing the last couple evenings and the bucks are definitely growing fast....oh and Nicole saw her first baby fawn of the season....that is always her favorite. The Iowa license applications NEED to be done by June 7th! If you have not applied and want to LET ME KNOW, I will walk you through it.

One more thing....Kirby's B-day is Saturday!! (HE WILL BE 35! SHHH)  Nicole graduates from pre-school on Saturday too! I guess they are both getting older!

Well I will keep you updated and if you guys need anything let me know!!

June 23, 2009-  Hey Guys and Gals! WOW have we ever been busy...and HOT!! The weather here has been crazy. Mid 90's with heat indexes of 105-110 degrees! This NY born girl is not used to it even after all these years! Anyways, we have been working through the heat, spraying fields, fixing crossings, cleaning up farms, planting and a lot of glassing in the evenings (My favorite)!!

So the Iowa draw results will be available July 18th. We will be checking to see who was drawn and who received preference points. **IMPORTANT** Since we only take a limited number of hunters, you need to put down your deposit to book your spot! It is first come first serve!! Do not procrastinate or you will lose your spot! Any questions call me and I will explain to you how it works.

June 24, 2009-  Well we just went glassing in Iowa and I already text some of you but OMG we saw an absolute giant, and it is only June. I do believe we have a MONSTER on our hands. We saw alot of really nice bucks tonight. I get so excited, my emotions really show this time of year! I love watching them grow and seeing what bucks we have for the year ahead of us. They are getting big enough now we are going to start video taping and getting some game cams soon. I love this part of this job.

August 24, 2009- Hello my hunters!!! I have received many phone calls and emails asking me why I haven't posted any updates...So guys and gals here it is.....

WE ARE DONE WITH FOOD PLOTS! YEA! It has been a long journey this year but it is all going to be worth it when you guys kill those giants! We have been insanely busy preparing for the season. We have also had some extra help and company this year. Thank you SO much to Cody from Michigan, Nick from Staten Island, NY and Larry and Jeff from Michigan. Nick, Larry and Jeff are all hunters of ours who came to Iowa and Missouri in the blazing heat and worked sun up till sun down with us. Cody is a 16 yr old Senior in high school who is looking to get into the hunting industry and worked with us this summer. Great job Cody and your hard work is appreciated. You guys are awesome and were a great help!

Game cams....I know, I know you guys want more pics. Be expecting some real soon. We have some AWESOME bucks! It is going to be a great year, I can just feel it.

I need to remind you all that your balances are due by Sept 1st. Also, if you are trying to get ahold of me by email and I do not get back to you within 2 days please call me because we are most likely in MO.

*Reminder for Iowa. We are only taking 20 hunters per year and we are almost booked for 2010 already. IF YOU WANT IN BOOK NOW!!!!!

*Reminder for Missouri. We have been turning people away for this years prime dates for quite some time. IF you think you may want to re-book for next year then you will need to do so before you leave camp or soon after.

Well guys, my "baby boy" Shawn, (He doesn't think I should still be saying that) is turning 16 on Saturday the 29th. I can't stand it, I think I will have a nervous breakdown. He just can't be that old yet. Time flies and those of you with young ones just remember to enjoy them, let them enjoy their childhood and DO NOT take their childhood for granted.

That's it, take care and don't be afraid to respond........Taby
